Activities to Raise Awareness Internally
There are a number of social issues in the world today, including decarbonization, respect for human rights, elimination of poverty, and realization of diversity and inclusion. Depending on the issue, some people may perceive these as someone else’s problem, thinking, “it has nothing to do with me.”
Against this backdrop, the Bandai Namco Group is implementing a number of measures aimed at encouraging employees to “take ownership” of sustainability issues and to establish a culture where they think and act on their own to achieve sustainability as a group.
Sustainability Week
With the purpose of creating opportunities for Group employees to think about sustainability, we have created Sustainability Week, during which Group companies in Japan intensively implement sustainability initiatives.
In fiscal 2023, under the theme of “Bandai Namco’s Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion,” we organized a special lecture by a celebrity and held seminars covering the topic of LGBTQ, childcare leave to male employees, and women returning to work after maternity leave. Furthermore, we used VR to allow employees to experience what it is like to have a disability and offered sustainable menu options in the employee cafeteria. During Sustainability Week, we also collected used clothing at the Group’s main business locations. The collected items are upcycled and reused as displays of sustainable products at each of the Group’s business locations.
Sustainability BANANA: The Group’s Online Newsletter
Sustainability BANANA is our online newsletter featuring a variety of information on the Bandai Namco Group’s sustainability activities, including CO2 emissions, KPIs and targets of each Group company, status of each company’s initiatives. This website, accessible to anyone working for Group companies in Japan and overseas, allows employees to learn about the current status of the Group’s sustainability activities.
Global Sustainability Summit
In fiscal 2023, we held our first Global Sustainability Summit attended by representatives of major Group companies in Japan and overseas regional management companies to share the current status and challenges of sustainability activities. Discussions focused on the four themes of sustainability, crisis management, compliance, and information security.
Bandai Namco Nature Tour
The Bandai Namco Group provides environmental education opportunities for Group employees and their families.
In fiscal 2023, we held a sweet potato harvesting event in cooperation with Bandai Namco Will, a special subsidiary of the Bandai Namco Group. We also participated in the Lake Senba Environmental Learning Class sponsored by the Junior Eco-Club, which we started collaborating with in fiscal 2015. During the learning class, participants learned about the topography and geological features of the Lake Senba area.
My SDGs Project
For the purpose of connecting to smiles into the future, we are implementing the My SDGs Project in which each employee makes efforts in their own unique way. In addition to sharing the daily efforts of Group employees in Japan and overseas through our online newsletter, we display posters at each Group business location to raise awareness.
